We finished 2016 on a high! 120 people booked to come to the Christmas party and there were 30 on the waiting list! (Note to self: book early next time!) The venue, Castle Cove golf club, was fantastic. Wide, generous balcony with a view out over the slopes and trees of the golf course, a far off view of the city as a backdrop.
Birgitta Fairweather and her team had done a terrific job with the tables, all tastefully decorated in true Swedish style, slightly reminiscent of Carl Larsson and the food was of course excellent. Genuine Swedish Christmas smörgåsbord provided by Two Swedes cooking.
Lucia was there of course with her attendants and entertained the guests with a sample of traditional Swedish Christmas carols. People who have never come accross this tradition before are invariably impressed. Really though, they should be in Stockholm in the early hours of the morning of 13 December. You can see any number of Lucias hurrying along the streets in their white nighties, probably covered by a thick padded jacket to keep warm, on their way to perform at an office or school assembly.
Our next function is the Yabby Party on Saturday 8 April. Book early to avoid disappointment!
